Re: Marvin's Magnificent Magical Mansion
The knowledge begins to flow. Half elves, like elves are resistant to sleep magic and have some minor resistances to other magical effects. They are not as Dextrous as elves, but are more hardy. They are good at searching and listening, but not quite as well as elves. Like humans, half elves do not favor classes but can excel in almost anything

Humans are very versatile creatures. They are not weak in any aspect. They become skilled more quickly than other races, and even young, they can perform more feats. Being around all races, humans can learn a great variety of languages.

I have always wanted to know what my kids would be like if I married an elf chick. JD returns to the half-elf statue to examine it further. Standing next to it to gauge his height compared to it standing shoulder to shoulder with it.

Upon re-approaching the statue, it begins to glow once again, brighter and brighter as you get closer. The half elf stands ever so slightly shorter than you. You imagine the statue reaching out to you. You can feel it in your mind calling you. You begin to imagine a doorway in your mind, but you know once you proceed that there is no going back. Will you join me?

Re: Marvin's Magnificent Magical Mansion
As your mind reaches through the door your body is pulled from its dimension. You see a bright light in front of you. You use your hand to shield your eyes and notice that your hand seems slightly different. You look down and realize you are no longer who you used to be. This does not frighten you however as your new form seems normal and actually somewhat familiar. Your memory of your old self now seems more like a dream. Upon looking back up you find yourself in a circular room. The floor is a cold stone slab underneath your bare feet. You are standing naked and alone in a room empty save a number of statues around the perimeter.

Your words are unheard as you are in an empty room. Because you are complaining so much, you magically have a bunch of random knowledge explaining all this crap that you think is important and you actually already know but you refuse to acknowledge because you are just trying to be annoying. So there. Now you can make a stupid informed decision.

Re: Marvin's Magnificent Magical Mansion
Marlowe walks stubbornly stands beside the Dwarf statue while looking at the statues of other races.
All of these other statues pail in comparison to this noble and majestic Dwarf. Dwarves are truly the greatest of all the races.
Marlowe leans against the statue as the statue as he contemplates upon how to escape this room.
Well it's just you and me friend.... how in Moradin's name are we going to get ourselves out of this mess...

As you get closer to the dwarf statue it glows brighter. You see a doorway in your mind and the dwarf is beckoning you through. You know you won't be able to turn back once you go through.

Marlowe passes through the door and finds himself in another round room. He is standing tall in his glorious dwarf form. Around the perimeter of the room are eleven statues of dwarves each dressed differently and carrying different items.

Re: Marvin's Magnificent Magical Mansion
As you touch the statue of the fighter, your mind is opened once again. You can see a half-elven fighter standing before you. You are being beckoned through a doorway in your mind. But upon closer inspection, It is actually you standing there, waiting for the rest of you to catch up. You know there is no turning back once you go through, but you can feel the power that this statue offers. The knowledge of weapons and the ability to hit and damage your enemies.

Re: Marvin's Magnificent Magical Mansion
- Spoiler Alert! But you should read it, even if you do not enjoy spoilers and wish to be surprised because basically everything is probably already on the table in essence do to the fact that you guys are not idiots and understand exactly what is going on which I am sure is partially because of how I already basically spelled everything out plus the fact that this is similar to the first time we played o so long ago back when things were simple, when characters were low levels, and when Bort was always happy to steal a few silver from Kran but of course Kran never cared because he was just a nice loveable dragonborn but I digress, this spoiler is meant to ease the transition between character creation, character functionality and actually getting started, so just click this to have all the vital information you need about this endeavor. Go on, click me:
- You guys are making 3.5 characters. This is taking a little longer than expected and rolling dice in a magical mind room doesn't make much since. So here is how it will work, Both of you have chosen your race, and I think both of you have already decided your class. So, we need to roll some dice for stats and stuff. Everyone hates getting crappy dice rolls but part of the fun is dealing with those. So how about this, Roll 4d6 seven times. Take the highest 3 rolls of the d6. The seventh rollgroup gives a buffer to compensate for the inevitable time when you yatzee on a 1. Sound good? If not, just let me know. So yeah! Post away! or if you want me to painstakingly describe all 11 statues you see around you, I can do that to. But I may make you trip into the Bard one. MUWHAHAHAHA. No, I wouldn't really do that, Think of how miserable it would be to have to listen to a Dwarven Bard. What are they going to sing about? Beards and stone? Am I right? and what is the deal with those owlbears? I mean I guess they can still have family reunions in a tree, but ya know that it has to be awkward. And those dragons with those gold hoards, what is the point? They can't exactly go to Macys and spend that money on a new dress. Maybe that is why they are so angry and breathing fire and such. And then you have Falastir the dragon, gold hoard? Nope! He obviously found a way to spend his... on food! That is one fat dragon. You know he will always be a bachelor, because there is no room for another dragon in that cave.....[The writer of this material was later fired for his insensitive views of dragons with weight issues. If you are a dragon who is struggling with your weight or knows of one, please contact us for free information on dealing with this problem. We have lots of resources at our disposal here at the CDC, the Center for Dragons with weight Complications]

Re: Marvin's Magnificent Magical Mansion
Marlowe the Dwarf notices a statue of a bard and is instantly filled with all of the inspiration that his stone-hearted kin have shunned him from ever expressing. He decides it's time to let lose all of his inhibitions and follow his heart. To sing songs of his ancestors, rally his comrades in times of trial and to be the life of any party! He walks over to the statue of the bard and places his hand on his shoulders.

Marlowe snaps out of his day dream of chasing after foolish dreams of playing music in taverns and returns to his real ambition- slaying goblins with a Dwarven battle axe!

Re: Marvin's Magnificent Magical Mansion
- Okay, now lets roll through some more of the mechanics so we can get to the fun:
- Now that stats, race, and class have been chosen, we need to finish creating characters. How to do this can be found in the PHB. Most of the spots on the character sheet can be found by charts located int he PHB. Fighters will have a couple of feats at first level that will need to be chosen and skill points will need to be allocated. Certain skills will probably not be used very often, I mean, i guess it is cool if you can appraise and item, and decipher the script on it, or you can just intimidate a squishy mage into doing it for you! MWHAHAHAHAH Anyway, if you need help with character creation, let me know.
- After your character is finished:
- After you have your character and you are happy with it, choose a number between 1 and 100, then chose another number between 1 and 100, then choose another number between 1 and 100. If you don't want to choose, then find a random number generator or something.
- After that:
- You wake up in a comfortable bed. Morning light is shining through curtains in the window in your room. You look around the room, there is a small empty nightstand next to the bed. There is a large wooden chest at the end of the bed. There is also a small desk with a chair in the room. It looks like there is a piece of paper on the desk. You have no idea how you got here. In fact, you don't remember much at all. The last thing you remeber is walking into Marvin's Mansion, but everything feels like a dream

Re: Marvin's Magnificent Magical Mansion
Why hello there Jaydee, I hope all is well. Are you getting settled into the city? I hear it is quite nice there. You might want to try to make some money during the week. You may need some supplies for your adventure and you know Mortimer won't pay you until you finish the job for him. Raura said she would meet you on the roof of the Inn on Saturday morning. I think there are some others who will be there too. Anyways, good luck in your new town.
