Kran walk up slowly grinding his teeth, and causing sparks to fly. Then shouts in draconic...You will answer his questions. Now and speak the truth or you'll fry.

Re: The Legend of the Silver Scepter
The three kobolds cower in fear and tremble at the sight of Kran. Then one of the three speaks up.
We were going to make sacrifices to Mimurr on his island just west of here....please don't kill us!

Who is this Mimurr you speak of? And what is on the island?

Mimurr is the god of fire and destruction and if he is not appeased, he will unscrupulously unleash his firery wrath on the land without discreminating between his worshipers or enemies!

Re: The Legend of the Silver Scepter
It's just off the shore to the West about a mile or so. That's where he lives; where we make our sacrifices. There is a cave there- the entrance to his lair where we offer our sacrifices. Oh please, spare us so we can flee the land.... we thought we had time to get back to the camp and gather the sacrifice to take to Mimurr while you slept. But the sacrifice has not made it to him in time. We saw smoke and fire rise from the mountain on the island. Mimurr is angered because he has not gotten his sacrifice! We must go!!!!
As the kobolds explain the situation, Gaius listens with great interest. He rubs his chin as he ponders on the information provided by the terrified kobolds. Then a look of excitement comes upon his face.
Ah ha! This explains everything! These kobolds long ago must have found the legendary silver scepter and placed it in a pile of loot like what we found at the camp to be delivered to this Mimurr... Then, a group of marauders took the loot for themselves. Soon after, the kobolds must have caught back up with them and killed them while retrieving the loot in time to be used as a sacrifice! I bet you, that the relic is on that island still! Kran, do you know what this means!?! We are one step closer to finding a piece of the fabled Silver Dragon Regalia!

Re: The Legend of the Silver Scepter
Smoke and fire eh.... Well, I'm not much into being burned to death by some ancient deity, but I do like the idea of finding a massive trove of Kobold gold! Bort speaks somewhat slyly to his comrades. He repeats "massive trove of Kobold gold" a couple of times to himself as if he was trying to use it in a bard's poem. Unfortunately, no matter how many times he says it, it does not rhyme like he wants it to.

Indeed! We will be borrowing your vessel young kobolds. We seek to hold back the wrath of Mimurr. Return to your villages and soon you can sing songs of our heroic triumph!

Re: The Legend of the Silver Scepter
The kobolds look at each other in disbelief for a moment and then run off. Gaius, still wearing a look of excitement on his face starts heading towards the kayak.
Well let's not waste time! Hop on in and let's make our way to the island!
He gets in the kayak and waits for his companions

Re: The Legend of the Silver Scepter
With the adventuring party all aboard, they paddle their kayak out onto the ocean. The island is not far from shore and it is a beautiful day. With no cloud in the sky and calm waters, the adventurers easily navigate the bay. As they get closer, they can tell more about the island's physical features: the island is roughly 10 miles from the southern coast up to the northern coast, there is a large dome shaped mountain at the northern area of the island, the island is typical with sandy shores, palm trees, and other tropical vegetation. The closest part of the shore is at the northern part of the coast and from there heading south the coastline recedes and is farther away. The coastline to the north is relatively clear of obstructions and looks to be a suitable area to come to shore.

[Kran can tell that the island is for the most part untouched by man. There are likely all manner of creatures living here. However there is one clearing in the forest off the north shoreline which seems to be a path that is well traveled. The large dome shaped mountain has a large opening in the middle and, occasionally, smoke rises from the center]

Should we take the well traveled path or perhaps find our own way? I'm always up for doing a little sneaking around Bort asks of his comrades.

Re: The Legend of the Silver Scepter
Well if the scepter was a treasure these kobolds had intended to use as a sacrifice then perhaps we should follow that trail that Kran saw. It's only logical that that would be the way they went to make their sacrifices. Lead on Kran!

Re: The Legend of the Silver Scepter
[As the heroes paddle across the waters they come to the northern shoreline and moor their vessel there. As they look around there is not much more than the sandy beach where they are standing. The tree line of the forest is dense and difficult to see through with the exception of the path which has been cut through the forest. They can see the mountain which is very close now and located just northwest of their current location.]

The path is about 5 feet in width and the placement of who is where will be determined by who posts that the went on the trail first ( though it really doesn't matter unless you have to fight something).
Gaius points in the direction of the path leading into the woods

Re: The Legend of the Silver Scepter
Gaius joins them....
They travel along the path for about a mile or so and eventually come upon a clearing which reveals the foot of the large mountain with smoke emerging from the top. At the base of the rock wall is a large stone door carved with decorative depictions of a Dragon. There is a circle in the middle which is made of a series of 10 rings which have Draconic writing on them. There are kobold tracks leading right up to the door...
